5 out of 5 stars More Hot water from the same source!   December 12, 2008

I had purchased this item last month. I had the prior 2.5 GPM for years but it kept on getting clogged by lime deposits. Always has to use Apple Cider Vinegar to remove the deposits after a couple of hours. Now this newer model suppose to be clogged free! Using it at first you think the water pressure is low but in fact it's really the same as the 2.5 GPM model but it's more 1.6 GPM. This product is rated as Green item. To save 40% more water and thus uses less and can stay in the shower longer now more than 20 minutes as the water doesn't get warm to cold. I don't use a hot water tank so for me this is a plus. I have a steam boiler with tankless system only 2 years old. I was going to get the add-on to the boiler to get more hot water reserve but now I can save hundreds and use that money for something else thanks to this device.

5 out of 5 stars Pulses shampoo out. Feels like a real shower. 1.5 GPM $9.98 at Walmart   July 26, 2009

This really works well and I was skeptical about buying this.
My mother's 2.5 gallon rain style showerhead was taking so long
for her to rinse shampoo out of her hair that she turned the hot
water heater to max HOT! I knew she would be so picky about this
change that I figured I would probably have to return this
to Walmart. I didn't.
NOTE: The same Peerless model #76154 is now a 1.5 GPM at Walmart for $9.98
is not 1.6 GPM anymore it is 1.5GPM.

I easily installed the Peerless showerhead without using any teflon tape and no leaks so far. It is made out of plastic but seems sturdy.
There is no on/off, it will always be on unless you buy some kind of device.

Used this today. It sprays the water out in a V shape. As it says "Larger spray droplets feel warmer longer" and this is true. The closer you get to the shower head, the stronger the 'amplifying' or what I call pulsing of the water. Get closer if you need to rinse shampoo from your hair. One person mentioned that it was "good but mixed with little stings mixed in." I can't say it felt like stings but more like fast pulsing the closer you get to the head.
It saves 1 gallon per minute over a 2.5GPM shower head. This will allow you to turn your water heater down to a lower temperature and save you money. I turned the water heat from hot to the warm area and now we still don't run out of hot water. I think the 1 gallon every minute water savings allows you to do this since hot water heaters have a 'recovery rate' and 1.5GPM use will not outpace that recovery rate.
"The speed at which a unit heats water is called its recovery rate."
Best $10 I have spent lately, I am very impressed.

5 out of 5 stars 1.6 and good pressure   April 26, 2009

best water saving showerhead on the market as far as I know. has a spat like spray pattern, provide good pressure, will greatly reduce water consumption. excellent product at a great price.

4 out of 5 stars It does amplify and uses less water   September 21, 2008

I have lower water pressure (about 62 psi) and tested many lower flow, mater amping shower heads. Alsons makes many of these with the big companies putting their names on them. This is the same technology as the Delta 1.6 but cosmetically different. You can find the Peerless in the Wal mart around me.
This head put the most pressure out for the money. Nearly 15-21 psi more than the 2.5 gpm heads!
It does use less water than a 2.5 and gives a pretty decent shower. It will be more than enough to blast soap and conditioner off of your body and hair.
The large hole will make it less likely to clog if you have hard water. The action is more like a side to side shake combined with a pulse so you get body coverage with force.
This is different than what you might be used to since it is not a needle spray but larger drops of water. Some think these mist but I do not see that effect. It does spray different than what most have so takes a few showers to really know if you like this way of presenting water to your body.

It s one draw back is that it might have to much force. I am male and my first thought was it was good but mixed with little stings mixed in. However I do think in a week your body would get used to it.

For the low cost if you are looking to boost pressure and save water, you should try this by going to your local store and seeing if you can find it to try it out.
If you want to spend about $24 you can buy from Amazon the 1.6 version by Alsons with 4 holes that use this technology. Over all it solves all the issues. It will give you wider coverage, and the pressure is divided between all 4 holes. You do get about 10 psi LESS pressure because of the 4 holes so there is no sting. For some reason that one uses a little more water even though they are both 1.6 rated.

If looking for low cost, lower water use, high pressure, this one is hard to beat for the money.

2 out of 5 stars Does not swivel!   August 11, 2009

The water "quantity" and pressure were what I expected from this ultra-low-flo showerhead. As others here have commented, the water comes out like a wide spray, rather than the narrower output of standard showerheads. Nevertheless, in considering that (again), this is an ultra-low-flo, the shape of the spray and pressure were sufficient for a decent shower.

My only complaint is that the showerheard doesn't swivel. I'm 5'3" and my husband is 5'11", and we adjusted our old showerhead on a daily basis to suit our heights. My husband found this showerhead to be fine--whereas I would have liked to have adjusted it, so the water would hit me more in the face area (rather than over my head). I tried to buy an attachment to make it adjustable, but was told at [large, national big-box hardware store] that there weren't any, and that all showerheads should come swivel-able. After a week I gave up and purhcased another showerhead.
